JEE Book List: Physics, Chemistry and Maths Basics

Bookaao Blog ⏱ 1 min read

Short answer: Pick NCERT plus one main book for each subject, finish them well, and only then add extra practice. A short list revised twice beats a long list read once.

Physics

Begin with the NCERT textbooks for Class 11 and 12 to fix concepts, then use one widely used problem-solving book for numericals. Ask your teacher or coaching faculty which one matches their teaching so notation and approach stay consistent.

Chemistry

Treat NCERT as the base for inorganic chemistry, and add one book each for physical and organic chemistry. Chemistry rewards repeated reading, so a book you can revise quickly is worth more than a very detailed one you never finish.

Maths

Choose one book that covers the full syllabus with graded exercises, and solve the exercises in order. Add chapter-wise question banks only for chapters where you keep losing marks.

Avoid duplicates

Many students buy two books that cover the same chapters. Before buying, check the contents page against what you already own. A second hand copy of the same edition is usually a sensible way to save money on the books you do need.

Frequently asked questions

How many books do I need per subject for JEE?

Most students do well with NCERT plus one main book per subject, adding extra practice only for weak chapters.

Should I follow my coaching modules or separate books?

Use your coaching modules as the primary material and add books only to fill gaps, so you do not study two parallel versions of every chapter.

Can I buy these books second hand?

Yes, concept and problem books of the right edition are commonly bought second hand. Check condition and missing pages before ordering.
